SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) — Months before the U.S. teetered on the brink of debt default, investors had been flocking to new exchange-traded funds that offer a cushion against a deteriorating U.S. dollar, a MarketWatch analysis of fund data shows.
The list of the 10 most popular ETFs launched in the past year is crowded with funds that offer investors ways to invest in emerging-markets bonds — in the issuing country’s currency — and commodities, particularly niche sectors such as rare earths.
