About AUSecure

AUSecure Review

AUSecure is an online precious metals technology firm. The firm was founded in 2009 at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange. They aim to provide solutions for clients looking to invest in precious metals and aim to offer highly accessible and innovative transaction points. Through the use of new technologies, they hope to make the process of buying or selling gold, silver, platinum, or palladium online an easy one for people all over the world.

AUSecure's website outlines the company's core values: secure a plan, secure wealth, and secure the future. These three values guide what the company does and the decisions it makes. They aim to help each of their clients achieve these three goals to set themselves up with financial security.

Another thing that AUSecure believes in is providing resources and education to each of their clients. They want to help each individual make the most informed decisions possible when deciding to invest in precious metals.

Shipments and Insurance

All orders placed with AUSecure will be fully insured for during shipment. AUSecure's website lists an estimated shipping time of 3-5 days after an order is placed and the funds are verified. They only offer free shipping if you spend at least $10,000. All other orders will be charged $19.95 for shipping.

Selling Precious Metals to AUSecure

AUSecure's website doesn't explicitly mention that they buy precious metals, but it does include shipping instructions for mailing metals to them. So, it looks as if this company may purchase precious metals. If you are interested in selling some of your precious metals to AUSecure, contact the company to confirm that this is indeed a service they offer.

Gold

AUSecure Review

Gold is a timeless investment and one that has stood the test of history. It continues to be highly sought-after across the globe, can help investors hedge against inflation, and is very easy to liquidate when you need cash for your investment. Despite the fact that AUSecure's website lists multiple categories of gold items (gold bullion bars, gold bullion, pre-1933 US gold, gold collectible coins, IRA-approved gold, and grade gold coins), at the time this article was written, they only showed that three gold bars were available. The available bars were:

  • 1 oz Perth Mint Gold Bullion Bar
  • 1 oz RCM Gold Bullion Bar
  • 10 gram Perth Mint Gold Bullion Bar

However, when you look on other parts of the website, namely the homepage, it does appear that there are other coins, such as the American Gold Eagle Coin or Gold Canadian Maple Leaf Coin, available. Since these coins don't show up under the 'Gold' section on the website, though, it is a bit confusing.

Silver

AUSecure Review

AUSecure's website also lists multiple categories for silver: silver coins, silver rounds, silver bars, junk silver, and graded silver coins. However, as with gold, when you click on some of these categories, no results show up. And, the available selection under categories that do have items is pretty slim. Below are the available silver options through AUSecure:

❑ Coins

  • Pre-1965 90% Silver Half Dollar

❑ Bars

  • 10 oz Silver Bars (assorted mints)

❑ Junk Silver

  • $1 Junk Silver Bag (pre-1965)
  • $50 Junk Silver Bag (pre-1965)
  • $100 Junk Silver Bag (pre-1965)
  • $250 Junk Silver Bag (pre-1965)
  • $500 Junk Silver Bag (pre-1965)
  • $750 Junk Silver Bag (pre-1965)
  • $1,000 Junk Silver Bag (pre-1965)

As we mentioned for gold coins and bars, the homepage does make it appear the AUSecure offers other types of silver coins, such as Silver American Eagle Coins or Silver American Buffalo Coins. The disorganized website and the fact that these coins are not listed under the silver category is a bit confusing, though.

Platinum

There are two different platinum options available through AUSecure. These include:

  • 1 oz PAMP Suisse Platinum Bar
  • 1 oz Platinum Australian Platypus Coin

Self-Directed IRAs

AUSecure can work with your preferred IRA trust company to help you set up an IRA and add precious metals to it. The team at AUSecure is experienced and can help you through each step of the process of opening an account with a trust company (the website lists some companies they recommend). Once your account is set up and you have funded it (either by rolling over funds from an existing account or through a bank transfer), you'll be able to choose the precious metals you wish to add to your account.

View Real-Time Precious Metals Prices

If you ever want to check in and see how the precious metals market is performing, you can just visit AUSecure's website. The bottom of the page has a bar that says "Realtime" and hovering over the bar will pull up the current market price for gold, silver, platinum, and palladium. You can also click on any of the categories to see charts displaying the real-time prices.

Are There Any Red Flags for AUSecure?

AUSecure Review

Determining whether there are any red flags for working with a company is essential, especially when you're talking about investing large sums of money. If anything feels off about a particular company, it just isn't work the risk of giving them your money.

When writing this review, we checked with some trusted online review sites. We feel that reading through reviews from past customers is a great way to learn more about a company, how they conduct business, and whether there are any red flags that indicate you should look to take your business elsewhere.

For AUSecure, we were only able to find review on the Better Business Bureau's website. We couldn't find any reviews or ratings on the other three sites we checked (Business Consumer Alliance, TrustLink, and Trustpilot). Companies that are lacking reviews aren't always bad, but they're not always good either. Missing reviews, in our opinion, just leave too many unanswered questions for us to feel comfortable.

  • Better Business Bureau: A+ rating; BBB Accredited Business
  • Business Consumer Alliance: Not rated
  • TrustLink: Not rated
  • Trustpilot: Not rated

Is AUSecure a Scam?

AUSecure Review

AUSecure is not a scam. The company was founded in 2009 and appears to offer the services stated on the website.

However, we would not recommend working with AUSecure. After spending a few minutes on their website, it looks like they have a very limited selection of coins and bars. While they appear to have multiple categories on the side to filter results, there were only a few 'junk silver bags,' a few silver bars, one silver coin, and three gold bars that showed up.

But other parts of the website do make it appear that there are other options. The website is not well organized and the coins and bars do not appear easy to find by clicking on the "Gold," "Silver," "Platinum," or "Palladium" categories at the top of the page. Considering the extensive selection (and better organized websites) you'll find through many other precious metals companies; this alone is probably enough to steer you away from AUSecure.

We have other concerns as well, though. Like we shared above, AUSecure does not have hardly any online reviews. Working with such an unknown company seems too risky, especially when you're talking about investing large amounts of money.

Another downside of working with AUSecure is that they are not an IRA custodian company. This means you'll need to choose a separate IRA custodian company and indicate that you wish to purchase your precious metals through AUSecure.

While this process can work, it can also be more challenging than choosing to work with a gold investment company that is also an IRA custodian. Needing to search and find your own custodian company just adds another layer of research for you to complete.

We also didn't like AUSecure's website. It doesn't seem as well organized as other gold investment companies' websites. It makes it quite challenging to find which coins and bars are actually available for purchase. They also don't offer a live chat feature to help you get quick answers to more simple questions you may have.

Final Verdict

By now, it's probably pretty clear that we don't recommend working with AUSecure. There isn't a lot to like about this company, honestly. Their selection of coins and bars is very limited, they are not an IRA custodian, and their website isn't the most organized or easy to use. We would definitely recommend that you find another precious metals investment company to work with.

Fortunately, once you do a bit more research, you should discover that there are a multitude of other options to choose from when you're looking to add precious metals to an IRA or purchase them as a personal investment. And, even better, many of these other companies have stellar ratings from past customers!

We believe that there are better companies out there to make your investment with.
