Obverse

The Heroes of Two Nations Gold Bullion Coin Review

As a Canadian coin, the obverse of this coin features a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. This portrait was designed by Susana Blunt as part of a contest that was being run by the Royal Canadian Mint. Blunt's design was selected as the winner of the contest, and has been in use since 2003 on Canadian currency.

Blunt's portrait depicts the Queen facing the right. Rather than wearing a crown, as is traditional in many other portraits of Her Royal Majesty, the Queen is shown wearing a pearl necklace. "Elizabeth II" and "Canada" are written around the Queen's portrait. On the 1/10-ounce coin, the obverse also includes the 5-dollar face value and the words "D.G. Regina," which mean "Elizabeth II, by the grace of God, the Queen."

The 1/4-ounce coin's obverse design also include the weight and purity level of the coin.

Reverse

"First Special Service Force, Premiere Force de Service Special" is written along the bottom border of the coin.
